A world class African city and the capital of the Gauteng region, Johannesburg is the biggest metropolis in South Africa. The city is the financial, economic and cultural hub of South Africa and increasingly for the rest of Africa. It is an enchanting vibrant city with a modern centre, combining its ways with the older surroundings. Johannesburg is also the most common entry point into Southern Africa.

It is a modern city with superb shopping available by any standards. With a few natural landmarks and flat natural landscape, Johannesburg can seem overwhelming to the first-time visitor. Most visitors stick around the city's wealthy northern suburbs, which boast international hotel chains and large shopping malls. There are quite a few museums and galleries to visit in Johannesburg; some include the Market Theater Complex, Mandela Family Museum, Johannesburg Art Gallery and South African National Museum of Military History.
