Getting there & around - Kyrenia

If you are arriving into Ercan International airport in Nicosia (North) then there are only two ways for getting to Kyrenia. You can either hire a car before you arrive as most car hire companies offer free airport deliver if you hire the car 7 days+ and drive towards Nicosia sign, once you get the big roundabout in Nicosia with a monument in the middle then take the Kyrenia road and then it will lead you to the city or you can get a taxi at the airport (taxies use taximeter for pricing). There is no public bus transportation from Ercan airport to other cities but there is between Kyrenia and other cities like Nicosia, Famagusta or Güzelyurt. Also most of the hotels offer free airport transfer if you are staying minimum 7 nights.

Once in Kyrenia and have no rental car you can use “Dolmus” to get around, mostly to go to the beaches towards west of the city, Lapta direction. But a rental car is highly recommended as the minibuses run only on the main road.
