Dining in Lyon |
Any Frenchman who doesn’t live in Paris will tell you that Lyon outshines all other cities in the gastronomy department. A great ville that combines the best of urban prosperity and regional Burgundy and Rhone charm, one of Lyon’s hallmarks is the ability to cater to gourmands of all budgets, from gloriously simple olive, cheese and bread at the market to a slap up meal. Small neighbourhood restaurants, or bouchons, offer authentic, local food such as hot saucisson, chicken in vinegar and black pudding. The city is also home to France’s culinary pope, Paul Bocuse, whose restaurant will set you back a month’s salary – but it’s worth it. |
