Overview |
Locals are proud of their Celtic heritage in Nova Scotia's biggest city - so expect most hotel doorman to greet you wearing kilts. Halifax has a high student population giving it a fun nightlife. There are also several microbreweries serving a range of beers. The city is based around the world's second-largest harbour and its boardwalk is with shops, restaurants and bars - it's a very laid-back place to stroll around. The Citadel fort is one of Canada's most-visited attractions - the former military base was built in the 19th century to protect Canada from the US and it is only a short walk up the hill from the waterfront. Other attractions include the Maritime Museum of the Atlantic, which has exhibits about the sinking of the Titanic. You can also visit graves of Titanic victims on city tours. |
