The capital of Hyogo-ken, Kobe is a world famous city, loved by national and international tourists who travel here to experience the ambience and culture only this city pulsates with. This stunning city has its roots far back in Japanese history and, along with its sophisticated atmosphere and dramatic location on the coast, is what makes Kobe so appealing.

The Shin-Kobe Ropeway is a popular tourist attraction and one you shouldn’t pass up on if you get the chance. You start by hiking up a hill from behind the Shin-Kobe Station and then you can enjoy a cable car ride up to Nunobiki Herb Park. The views from the cable car of the bay re simply divine.

Restaurants in Kobe feature a wide variety of cuisine, but the city is famous for its Kobe beef. Although quite expensive, if you can afford it then it is certainly well worth it as a treat. If your budget doesn’t stretch that far, another local delicacy is sobameshi.

You will discover a wide variety of hotels in Kobe, from budget guesthouses and hostels to top of the range luxury accommodation. Hotels here are much more affordable than in the capital but you will find all the comforts you would in any major city.

Kobe is a wonderful portside city, one you certainly should not miss out on when visiting Japan. Full of culture, history, friendliness and delicious food, you certainly will find Kobe as wonderful in person as it is on paper.
