Rayong travel guide

Rayong is an incredible place to visit because it will remind you that natural beauty is such a commodity and delightful experience in today's busy and overcrowded setting. Part of its beauty can be attributed to the fact that it has an agricultural history. Locals and tourists alike love to immerse themselves in the culture and explore not only what is visible to the eye but also under the beautiful blue oceans. Scuba diving is a very popular pastime for visitors. Rayong initially developed as an area that relied on the aforementioned agriculture and the local fishing industry to build up its economy to what it is today. There are a number of inhabitants and the population stands at an estimated 55,000 people.

The city has a tropical climate so you will never find the rainy winter conditions that can spoil a holiday. The heat on the other hand can be uncomfortable at times for visitors who are used to more average temperatures. The cool season from November to February is the best time to visit the city.

Rayong does have a small airport but it very unusual to find people who fly there for personal reasons. The airport is known as being rather unreliable and is likely to cause more harm than good. It is best to fly to Bangkok first and then make your way on to Rayong. Bangkok has two airports namely the Suvarnabhumi International Airport and the Don Muang Airport. From here you will take a bus or a taxi to Pattaya and then another to your hotel in Rayong.

Making use of the public transport available to you in the area is the best way to get around. If you plan to travel extensively within Rayong, you can hire a car. Luckily, you won't be paying much to travel once you are there. Travelling on public transport is cheap and a good way to get around, especially if you are planning on visiting the local bars.

Whilst in Rayong why not enjoy some water sports or simply savour the view at some of Rayong's most famous beaches like Payoon and the Pala Beach? You could also take a trip to view the indigenous wildlife at the Khao Laem Ya Kho Samet National Park. Once a year you can go to the Red Cross fair but there are also a number of fruit fares and markets which operate throughout the year. A popular attraction is a visit to the Namtok Chao Chamao, which is a multi-tiered waterfall near the National Park. This is guaranteed to be a breathtaking and possibly life-changing experience for you and your fellow travellers.

If you decide to stay in Rayong for a period of time there are a number of accommodation options available to you from budget hostels and guesthouses to luxury hotels. The Koh Samet comes highly recommended with perfect views as it is situated in a beautiful and scenic area. Also, they have all of the facilities you would expect from a world class hotel. The Bari Lamai Resort, a four-star hotel near Suan San Beach, is also popular. Guests are granted direct access and can see the ocean from the front of the hotel. The Novotel Rim Pae Rayong is another option and is a fairly inexpensive place to stay considering the value you will experience. One night costs approximately THB 1070.
