Gucci, Ferragamo and Pucci are just a few of the names native to this beautiful city; ‘Made in Italy’ is made in Florence. For some incredible designer buys, hit the outlets just outside the city. The Mall by leccio Reggello (packed with designer stores) is easy to access by car, train or shuttle (for information on the shuttle, call +39 055 865 7775). Florence is also famous for its markets and a huge range of antique furniture, art, leather and jewellery – beautiful Italian leather can be purchased from Bojola in Via dei Rondinelli, a crafts shop opened in 1892 which stocks gorgeous bags and wallets. Visit the Mercato delle Pulci in the Piazza dei Ciompi and the Cascine market in Viale Lincoln for a real Italian market scene and leather and accessories. The Officina Profumo Farmaceutica di Santa Maria Novella is a must see for any visitor to Florence; the old pharmacy stocks a range of beauty essences which make great gifts to take home. |
